Hello everyone! There is a temporary task shortage due to finishing the 2nd target, moving to the 3rd one and improving the docking protocol. Thank you for your patience! |

Hi folks! Another task shortage - for validator adjusting! Thank you for feedback and participation! Distributed Computing - a cool! |

Thanks for the news. I'm sure that Natalia will fix the problem ! |

Maybe. Or it works like in Germany : The woman announce the problem - and the man has to fix it... ;-) Btw: Wu-validation seems to work fine now. But: There are no wu's availible :-( |

If you were working for an American company, you would be busy working on your resume for a new job. I had to explain that once to a colleague visiting from Germany. He didn't believe me. |

It's a Natalia's project. :) |

Computation of task replicas on different computers/platforms sometimes allows to reveal errors in the software or workload settings. This is what has happened now. We investigate the reasons and work towards resuming the project. Thanks everyone for patience! |

Thank you Natalia for the information, a lot of other sites don't even say what happening and leave us volunteers hanging around wondering what going on, hope you find the bugs soon :) I'm crunching covid work units on 'world community grid' currently and yes this is one of the sites which don't really give you much information on what our computers are really doing, just be nice to know if a phase or research batch completed with 'X' amount of results, i mean don't get me wrong i look forward to new work units its just when you have been a volunteer for over 10 years and when some one askes you what you actually research i cannot give them a straight answer, I do get a funny look of them wit the reply 'so you don't actually know what your computer is doing apart from a progress bar? you can see my dilemma :) Keep up the good work Natalia im patiently waiting ready for the new work units :) Keep Safe and well Ian |

Note on validation of docking results: Molecular docking is an optimization process in which we search for the position of a molecule within the receptor site of a protein by maximizing the number and strength of favorable contacts and the number and strength of unfavorable contacts. CMDock (RXDock) uses a combination of two stochastic algorithms (Genetic Algorithm and Monte Carlo) to perform the docking. Due to the stochastic nature of the molecular docking process, it is impossible to get exactly the same output for different runs of the input. This is also the reason why only one run per molecule is not sufficient to obtain a picture of the protein-ligand interaction. In case of Molecular Docking validation is not straightforward ;-) |

The WCG COVID-19 Project is doing the same as SiDock. Docking libraries of molecules against target proteins of the virus. The Research page at WCG should tell you all you need to know about each of their projects and the forums should complement that. |

Doing the same work does not mean that they are doing it with the same programs, and therefore asking them is unlikely to help if the problem is with the programs. |

I've seen only three targets mentioned so far, and we are already attempting to work on the second of those. I'd like to see plans for what will happen when the third target is completed. Will a fourth target be ready by then? Or will the SiDock@home project just shut down then? |

Update: https://www.sidock.si/sidock/forum_thread.php?id=80. The third target is started. |
