There are no long tasks available at the moment.

Is it possible to create some?

Thanks!

There seem to be no task available AT ALL, despite what the server status says. I have the first hosts running dry... :(

My machines have all run dry. Are the short tasks for android only?

Short tasks are for Arm Linux devices. A Raspberry Pi running Raspberry Pi OS will receive short tasks.

Message 2372 - Posted: 18 Dec 2024, 14:42:12 UTC - in response to Message 2369.

greetings,
i have had sporadic outages as well.
for example:
16 Dec - WU available
17 Dec - AM - no WU
17 Dec - PM - WU available
18 Dec - AM - no WU

the web server status says there are no "zipped" tasks, but others are available.

but
the BOINC Event Log says:
Wed 18 Dec 2024 03:14:13 AM EST | SiDock@home | No tasks are available for CurieMarieDock on BOINC + zipped input, checkpoints and progress bar
Wed 18 Dec 2024 03:14:13 AM EST | SiDock@home | No tasks are available for CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 short tasks

And I am running Linux on 64 bit computers.

Perhaps there is an internet connection problem at the university?

More info??

Thanks, Jay

SI-Dock have been saying for the past month that when the current target finishes (which it now has, the splutterings on the 17th were the last of them) then they would be moving to ARM only for a while.

We can only hope that it is a short while.

Misleading Server status Stats?
See: https://www.sidock.si/sidock/server_status.php

The project page-server stats say that there are 18974 - Unsent - CurieMarieDock 0..2.0 short tasks
and
2523 -In Progress - CurieMarieDock 0..2.0 short tasks

Yet,
my BOINC Manager Event Log says that there are no short tasks available.

Since this stat/number has not changed for a few days, I assume that server stats on the project have not been updated and are wrong.
I also assume that ARM WU are not involved.

Can someone else verify this, please?
Then, can someone at the project take corrective action?

Thanks!!
Jay

Short tasks are available, but not for x86 platform. If you look at the applications page, you will see that only ARM applications are available. The server status page only shows a total number across all platforms. Meanwhile, your client log is saying there is no task for its platform. Both are correct. This can surely look misleading, but it's more of a limitation of BOINC's server status page.

The only way to get short tasks now is to run anonymous platform and there are instructions for Linux on the forum.

@WuJJ:
Thank you for your patience and explanations.
As I get older and older, I guess I am getting thicker.
Best wishes for a happy, new year!!

Thanks again,
Jay

Can you post a link to those instructions? Searching the forums for 'anonymous' only yields 1 result: your post above...

Total and utter nonsense. I have a daily average of some 28.000 credits, running ARM boards.
32-bit ARM boards can run without any modification, 64-bit ARM boards need to do some minor tricks:
First
sudo dpkg --add-architecture armhf
sudo apt update --fix-missing
sudo apt install -y libc6:armhf libstdc++6:armhf zlib1g:armhf libfuse2:armhf libgomp1:armhf libboinc7:armhf

NB: The -y is specially for those that run Nvidia Jetson Nano or Xavier boards.

to be sure you get 32-bit work, edit you cc_config.xml to have these lines on a ARMv8 system
<cc_config>
    <options>
        <alt_platform>arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf</alt_platform>
        <alt_platform>armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf</alt_platform>
    </options>
</cc_config>

This is the anonymous platform described
I am not sure that is works in this project, as you would need you to tell BOINC which downloaded or self-built applications and libraries it should use and to ignore anything that it is/was sent by the project.

This might be very useful to use when the project does not have their own application for your platform OS. You can then build your own (if their source code is available) and use that instead of waiting for the project to come up with the goods.

But what can you actually download with this approach at this project?

To see what applications are available you should not looks at what applications are existing, but at the bottom of the server status page

All information posted here before yesterday evening is outdated.
Long tasks have been restored with a new target
https://www.sidock.si/sidock/forum_thread.php?id=214&postid=2408

CurieMarieDock 0.2.0 long tasks 26030 46382 2.07 (0.05 - 23.69) 1101
26,000 left is not much when systems like mine take 11 tasks at time.

What happens after these are done, who knows.[/url]

Not all. The project still has no Aarch64 application for those who run 64-bit ARM boards with a 64-bit OS.
In a previous post on this same page I gave the tweaks needed to get 32-bit WUs -regardless which of the three SiDock@Home apps.
