As Windows 10 occasionally forces its updates on us, I have noticed that all the partially crunched units finished with an error immediatelly after the computer restart. |

The RNA world project has found a way to add checkpoints using virtual machines even without understanding the application program well enough to add them there. |

These new RdRp WUs are running up to 2.5 hours. You really need to implement checkpointing. |

Some are running 3.5 hours. Checkpointing is a must. |

Had some WUs that ran up to 5 hours last night. Without the ability to Suspend at Checkpoint the WUs have to be allowed to run out or abort them. This is a real nuisance if one needs to turn off a computer for any reason. |

Yes, another craphole of a wriiten project with no checkpoints. Way to give a crap about crunchers wasting time and electricity. Bravo! |

Hello bluestang! :) Sometimes I have a problem with electric power, but now, at my home computer: ~$ uptime 02:14:43 up 23 days, 12:09, 1 user, load average: 32,47, 30,09, 29,79 Of course, for many computers our application is uncomfortable, and we understand it. But at this stage of project life we cannot provide tasks event for 1% of BOINC Grid. Of course we think how to change it. |

Yes, another craphole of a wriiten project with no checkpoints. Since it is open source you can implement checkpoints if it's so easy ;) |

I also find it a bit unfortunate, that no checkpoints are implemented. My private workmachine is between 5-7 hours online and I don't want to hibernate the machine all days. the half-hour WUs were no problem, but with the new WUs I have workhours from 3-4 hours. Sadly I have to switch |

Yes, another craphole of a wriiten project with no checkpoints. Don't make excuses for the lack of preparation in creating a project. These new work units are running for 6+ hours now...there is absolutely no reason that any project should not have checkpoints! |

For your fifth target with the E protein, you could consider to create from that 2000 compounds tasks with 'only' 100 or 200 compounds to reduce the run time duration as long as you don't have a solution for the (no) checkpoints issue. |

If i remember correctly each wu composed by 500 compound is 2MB I don't knof if a 100 compound wu will be much smaller (es: 0.2MB). If not, there may be a disk space problem |

with such long tasks and no checkpoints, many computers that work 5-7 hour a day just warm an air. |

Dear Crunchers, it seems that the E protein is a very specific target, and HTVS (High Throughput Virtual Screening) for some WU do not find a pose of the ligand within the receptor. We can think of our experiment as sieving, where the composition of the fractions depends on the choice of sieve. Perhaps our standard sieve has oversized pores and sometimes the fraction on the sieve contains no particles. We still hope to find between one billion molecules, some potential inhibitors of protein E. Crtomir |

Maybe the work units could be made smaller so that we don't have to "waste" a lot of work in case we have to turn off or restart our machines? |

Please try and add checkpoints. I know that the tasks were made much longer recently for a Sprint, but check points would help both the project and those that are donating computer time, hardware and electricity not to feel like they are wasting resources for when the puters can't complete a task for several different reasons. I appreciate the subject of this project and would like to continue to contribute, but until either the tasks go back to a short-er run time or there are checkpoints, I am out. Thank you for all that you continue to due, if I choose to participate or not! |
