Hello all!

Today we celebrate six months of SiDock@home. Thank you for lots of support! Let us summarize the current state:

Science. We are post-processing the obtained results and simultaneously performing virtual screening for the 5th target. With results obtained for several targets, we focus on viral proteases and are in the phase of getting physical samples of compounds for wet-lab testing. We will present the project at the BOINC Workshop on April 28. The event starts at 09:00 PDT / 12:00 EDT / 18:00 CEST / 19:00 EEST, our talk is at +00:40.

Society. The BOINC Pentathlon team selected SiDock@home as this year's Marathon project. The Marathon discipline is announced on 30 April and runs for two weeks from 05 through 18 May.

Technicals. Before the BOINC Pentathlon, we plan to move to a new physical server. The URL will stay the same. But we stop generating tasks and the project will be unavailable for 1-2 days. Also, we are implementing checkpoints as soon as possible.

So much great news in one post.
Only 6 months and getting physical samples ready for test is worthy of far more than just this sitting ovation that I give the team now.
It brings a physical smile to my face to see that Marko Jukic will present SiDock@home on April 28 BOINC Workshop. It's going to be an exciting day in the workshop.
Checkpoints are always welcome and the BOINC Pentathlon will for sure bring more traffic here.
I may have used up all my of smiles for today, or maybe I'll just keep smiling and make people wonder what I've been up to :)

Sorry, this was miscommunication from my side, I forgot to say explicitly that we would like this to remain secret until it is announced on the Pentathlon website.

However, while the genie is out of the bottle, there is no real damage done. Any tasks downloaded now will expire well before the Marathon and the project will be out of work for some time anyway because of the server move, so this pre-announcement won't cause overly aggressive pre-bunkering.

With current 3 days deadline there is no problem at all
The marathon had to be announced on April 30th with start on May 5th. You need to wait till May 2nd to download "valid" wus

The project seems to be running smoothly now. Please don't put that at risk to accommodate people who only come here to play games.

did you ever participated at the pentathlon? it's not a "game" (in the normal interpretation of game)
it's a huge booster for a project which benefits also from it

The Pentathlon will be a good test for the new server.

I am pretty sure the Pentathlon will find any bottlenecks :)

When is the move to the new server?

I hope that we will install new server before Boinc Pentatlon ;-)

Just a suggestion: Might be a good idea to increase the projection communication update from less than 10 secs currently to maybe 2 to 5 mins between updates. This will minimize "DDOS" like event esp during the beginning of the race and may potentially crash the server if the server and/or bandwidth can't handle the sudden surge in traffic.

The leak has no impact. The Marathon will be announced tomorrow (April 30th)
People will be able to download "valid" wus from May 2nd
Therefore hype would have been there anyway

However such long wus will surely help to spread the load. They need only build plenty wu buffer before sunday
